Up the avenue: basketry and local-produce stalls, a soap workshop or a craft studio, a workshop where the pousse-pousse rickshaws are hand-painted, the stands near the Alliance Française. The guide picks the workshops open on the day of your visit.
The Amara Institute
A cultural venue in the centre: exhibitions, crafts, gatherings. Opening hours to be checked before the visit.
Museum of the Sea
A small museum on the reef and the maritime trades, reached with the guide.
The pirogue harbour (La Batterie)
North of the beach, below the ruins of the old battery: the sailing pirogues coming back at day's end, when the light is low.
Antsokay Arboretum
Twelve kilometres out on the RN7: over 900 south-west species, 90% endemic.
